FREE FLOOD ALERT SERVICE

Councillor Sandra Bracegirdle would like people to be aware of the free flood alert service available from the Environment Agency.
Sandra said
" At a recent Council meeting we had a presentation from the Environment Agency about the dangers of flooding. I was concerned to hear that take up of the free flood alert service in Northenden is very low.
We have been lucky not to have serious flooding in Northenden in recent years but as the winter approaches I"d like to encourage people to take this issue seriously.
The Environment Agency are keen to talk to local groups about this and they also have pictures of Northenden floods from the 1930s onwards which I'm sure people would be interested in. "
The contact at the Environment Agency is Mike Maddocks 01925 543416.
